Howto test a mode shifter with a multimeter.
Ge washer mode shifter.
My ge washer was so loud during the spin cycle it was unbearable.
Reassembled and tried more quieter and like new machine.
Note the position of the shifter peg.
Remove the 2 screws that attach the mode shifter to the base of the washer.
Then replaced tub bearing tub bearing washer shaft mode shifter assembly and 6 rib drive belt.
I notice rust had accumulated around the mode shifter and bottom pan.
Loosening tub nut was a challenge as it was bit corroded use of wd40 was a great help.
The real problem here is ge s poor design which allows a leaky tub seal about 8 to wash the grease out of the mode shifter bearing causing the mode shifter bearing to fail.
Knowledge from you tube was a great help.
